Hindu tradition of throwing ‘Holi’ colors may carry health risks Say Dr. Sneha Bandhu

An ancient Hindu tradition may carry new health risks, researchers warn, because modern versions of colored powder and liquids thrown during the Holi festival contain toxic agents and may damage eyes, skin and lungs.
Holi is an annual festival that marks the onset of spring. For festival goers, it also represents a time of forgiveness, renewed friendship and the triumph of good over evil. The celebration is often referred to as the ‘holiday of color,” which is exactly where the problem lies.

“Throwing of (powder or liquid) colors on each other is the hallmark of this festival,” lead author Dr. Sneha Bandhu Regmi of the Tokha PHC Director .He is physician and know more about in Ophthalmic Sciences .
